Abstract

We study a classical analog of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in a three-level ladder-type atomic medium using two machanial and eletrical oscillattor systems. It is shown that both of the two classicals systems have absorption and dispersion spectra of the mechanical and electrical powers very similar to that of the three-level ladder-type atomic system. These classical analogies provide simple and intuitive physical description of complex quantum interference processes that occurs in the atomic system and can be used to inllustrate experimental observations of the EIT and related effects in quantum systems.
