DATA ANALYSIS FROM THE ADVANCED METER INFRASTRUTURE AMI/AMR TO DETECT ELECTRICITY THEFT AT AN PHU DONG ELECTRIC COMPANY
Abstract
This paper proposes a process to evaluate and detect electricity theft based on analyzing electricity theft data at An Phu Dong Electric Company from 2017 to March 2019. From the result of data analysis, the authors detect five theft actions, where two popular actions are direct connection to the grid (54.08%) and using strong magnetic (34.69%). When using strong magnetic, the customers only apply this method for electromagnetic electricity meters; however, this method is disable with the advanced meter infrastructure. While the
direct connection is still effective, and the advanced meter infrastructure is not able to detect the theft action. The authors proposed to calculate the total power loss at distributed substation and figure out that 75% of distributed substations have the total power loss over 4% if they have the electricity theft cases. From the results, the authors propose a process to evaluate the electricity theft action using direct connection to the grid.
