SITUATION FOR USING PLASTIC STRAWS BY STUDENTS AT HO CHI MINH CITY UNIVERSITY OF FOOD INDUSTRY AND SOLUTIONS
Abstract
The study aims to provide information about the current status of using plastic straws and alternative solutions nowadays. Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry (HUFI) was chosen for surveying and studying process. A set of pre-designed questionnaires were used to fill out by 200 students of the University. The results showed that students have used plastic straws in their daily life, the most frequency is 1-3 times/week, accounting for 36%. 47% of students realized the harmful effects of plastic straws on health. 73% of students have never used natural straws or even knew it. The study proposed 5 groups of measures to expand the use of natural straws, of which 83% of the total surveyed students said that propaganda sessions about the benefits of natural straws should be organized.
