Abstract

This study of the spatial and temporal distribution of extreme cold days and its changing trend in Vietnam in the 2011 - 2021 period shows that the extreme cold phenomenon occurs in the Northern, North - Central, and mountainous areas of the Mid Central region and Central Highlands. Extreme cold day occurs mainly in the winter (December, January, and February), with the greatest concentration in January. The number of frigid days in mountainous areas is significantly higher than in plains and coastal regions. The changing trend of frigid days over time shows a decreasing trend for most observation stations, except for Dong Van and some stations in the coastal area of the Central region.
