Research and propose a community model for domestic solid waste management in Hong Son commune, Do Luong district, Nghe An province

Abstract

Hong Son is a mountainous commune of Region I located in the North of Do Luong district, Nghe An province. Economic conditions are still challenging, however in recent years the amount of domestic solid waste generated has been increasing and diverse in composition and toxicity, especially disposable nylon plastic waste. Besides, classifying, collecting, transporting and treating household solid waste still has many shortcomings and is ineffective. Therefore, to improve the management capacity and environmental protection awareness of local communities, it is necessary to build a community model of collecting, classifying and treating household solid waste to reduce the amount of waste, especially plastic waste in villages in the commune. It is a necessary and suitable solution for local conditions and has brought high efficiency in many other rural areas across the country, helping the locality develop more and more sustainably.
