Assessment of water quality changes according to the WQI index in the Nhue - Day river basin flowing through Ha Nam province in the period 2021 - 2023

Abstract

The study assessed the water quality changes in the Nhue - Day river basin flowing through Ha Nam province in 2021, 2022, and 2023 based on the collection of periodic monitoring data on pH, DO, BOD₅, COD, NO₂^-, NO₃^-, NH₄⁺ , PO₄^3- and Coliform indicators. The data showed that the river water environment is still mostly polluted with nutrients and organic matter. By calculating the WQI water quality index of 09 monitoring points in the Nhue - Day river basin and establishing water quality zoning maps using the IDW interpolation method of ArcGIS 10.8 software, the results show that in 2023, the water quality on the Nhue - Day river has improved significantly compared to 2021 and 2022. On that basis, the study has proposed some suitable solutions to manage the water quality of the Nhue - Day river basin in Ha Nam province.
