Greenhouse gas inventory and emission reduction proposals at the high-quality spinning, weaving, finishing, and garment factory of Ha Nam Textile Co., Ltd
Abstract
The study aims to inventory greenhouse gas emissions and propose solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the high-quality spinning, weaving, finishing, and garment factory of Ha Nam Textile Co., Ltd. The inventory scope includes both scope 1 and scope 2 emissions. The greenhouse gas inventory method is guided in Section 2 of Appendix II issued with Circular No. 38/2023/TT-BCT. The greenhouse gas inventory results for the factory in 2023 show total converted emissions of 12,040.939 tons CO2e. Among these, the largest source of emissions is electricity use, which accounts for 12,098.176 tons of CO2e, or 97.891 % of total emissions. The second largest source is fuel combustion in fixed and mobile processes, generating 148.03 tons CO2e, making up 1.229 % of the total emissions. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the study proposes several solutions, including (i) Switching to energy-efficient lighting systems; (ii) Utilizing renewable energy; (iii) Shutting off the leading compressed air valve during lunch breaks; (iv) Replacing belt-driven ventilation fans with direct-drive fans, and (v) Implementing an energy management system based on ISO 50001. These solutions aim to improve energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of the factory.
