16. Improving innovation performance in scientific research at several institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment

Abstract

The focus of this study is on analyzing the factors that impact the effectiveness of innovative activities at various higher education institutions in Viet Nam. Based on the results of survey at Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment (HUNRE) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment (HCMUNRE), the study shown that besides the strength, there is a few limited points such as: internal policies, sources of finance, research infrastructure, as well as the awareness and behavior of faculty and students on innovation. On that basis, the paper proposes some groups of solution, including: completing the university administration and internal policies; (2) Investing and varying the sources of finance; (3) Developing the university's innovative ecosystem; (4) Encouraging the sharing of knowledge and entering the scientific market through exchanging science products. These solutions aim to improve the research capacity of the team of scientists; promote the applicability and ability to create socio-economic value of research products at 02 universities within the research scope of the paper.
