10. Current situation and proposed solutions for developing ecotourism activities in the Can Gio wetland area, Ho Chi Minh city
Abstract
This paper focuses on analyzing the current state of ecotourism development in the Can Gio wetland area, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve. The study indicates that Can Gio possesses great potential with its diverse mangrove ecosystem, a wide range of ecotourism activities, and a rapidly increasing number of visitors over the years. However, ecotourism development still faces several limitations, including inadequate accommodation and service facilities, short visitor stays, and increasing environmental pressures. Based on field surveys and data analysis, the authors propose solutions for sustainable ecotourism development, linking natural resource conservation with local socio-economic development. These solutions emphasize the importance of planning, environmental protection, development of distinctive tourism products, improvement of human resources, and community participation.
