Applying technical regulations of IPCC for lancover data used to estimate carbon emission in Vietnam
Abstract
Biennially, Vietnam updates the national report for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change including information of greenhouse gas emission for base years. The estimation of greenhouse gas emission in general, carbon emission in particular, in the field of land use, land use change and forestry is recommended to use advanced technology to build input data. Remote sensing technology with various advantages such as transparency, multi-time and wide coverage is one of these recommended technologies. This article proposes some technical regulations to build the landcover database for greenhouse gas emissions estimation, especially carbon emission estimation, in the field of land use, land-use change and forestry.
