Study on the current management status and propose collection and treatment methods for domestic solid waste in Ninh Binh city, Ninh Binh province until 2030

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the current domestic solid waste management in Ninh Binh city, Ninh Binh province based on field surveys, sample collection and analysis. The results found that the amount of daily solid waste was 1.2kg/person.day and thus the total quantity of domestic solid waste at Ninh Binh city is predicted about 142.59 tons/day in 2030. The main components of domestic solid waste were foodstuff and residue food, accounting for 59.6%. The average humidity and calorific value of domestic solid waste were 63.1 ± 6,63 % and 20369 ± 25.37 J/kg, respectively. Most of households have been using waste collection service from Ninh Binh Urban Environment and Services Joint - Stock Company, which domestic solid waste was not source-separated. This study also evaluated and proposed the collection plan for source-separated domestic solid waste as well as suitable treatment methods for each type of collected solid waste.
