02. Environmental characteristics and acid mine drainage formation in Minh Quang pyrite, Ba Vi district, Hanoi city

Abstract

Environmental pollution due to mining activities is a very serious problem, especially at metal sulfide mines. Acid mine drainage formation and the dispersion of heavy metals cause long-term environmental pollution and a typical example of that is at Minh Quang pyrite mine in Minh Quang commune, Ba Vi district, Hanoi city. This paper uses research methods such as methods of surveys, chemical composition analysis by atomic adsorption method (AAS) and acid - base calculation were used in this study. The results showed that the water and soil environment was seriously polluted. Mining activities were the main cause of environmental pollution there.
