12. Application of modeling and GIS tools to assess the effects of air pollutants in Cam Gia ward, Thai Nguyen city
Abstract
The paper presents results of application of the ISC 32 model and GIS tools to assess the air quality surrounding Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company, Cam Gia ward, Thai Nguyen city and to investigate the dispersion of pollutants from the waste point sources. Based on results from the ISC model 32, the air quality (based on QCVN 05:2013/BTNMT) around Cam Gia ward, Thai Nguyen city was assessed. In addition, the dispersion maps of CO, SO2 and total dust in the study area were built for the present time and when the company capacity will be doubled. The model results were compared with field observation data to evaluate model error as well as apply the model to other areas with similar conditions. Findings of this study were the scientific basis for the application of modeling and GIS tools to assess and forecast air pollution dispersion.
