Abstract
Chlorophyll-a is an indicator for the presence and quantity of algae, cyanobacteria; It often used as a basic indicator to assess the eutrophication or water quality of inland water bodies because it directly reflects the health of aquatic ecosystems. Using remote sensing data to extract Chlorophyll-a is one of the basic applications in water quality monitoring with the advantage of providing information regularly and continuously observed in a large area. This paper presents the results of using VNREDSat-1 satellite images to determine the distribution of Chlorophyll-a in the lagoon and Thuan An estuary, Thua Thien Hue to serve the assessment the current state of the water environment. The real measured value and image value
are similar. It is completely feasible when applying VNREDSat-1 image to calculate Chlorophyll-a.
