04. Results of assessment and zoning potential risk of landslide along mountainsides of Khanh Hoa province using Al. Homoud - Masanat method and GeoSlope program
Abstract
Assessment and zoning potential risk of landslide in order to provide solutions for preventing natural disasters and support local development planning is crucial nowadays, particularly in the mountainous areas of Khanh Hoa province in general and Nha Trang city in particular. Based on the relevant data from previous studies along with the results of the field investigations, the potential risk of landslide was assessed using the Al. Homoud and Y. Manasat’s methods which take into account of consideration the factors of soil types and geological structure, rainfall, slope and the relative height of the mountains. The results of this assessment from particular points were interpolated for mapping the potential risk of landslides in the mountainous areas using GIS tools (Mapinfor, ArcGIS,...). Also, the Geo Slope program was used for quantifying the stability of hill-slope at various locations with reliable results observed.
