Abstract

Land cover plays a very important role in regulating water sources, limiting floods, soil degradation as well as preserving ecosystems. In recent years, land use/land cover has changed profoundly due to the impact of socio-economic development, population growth as well as the effects of climate change. With outstanding advantages compared to traditional research methods, remote sensing technology has been widely used in monitoring and assessing land use/land cover changes at regional and national scales. Currently, due to the strong development of remote sensing satellite systems, processing multi-temporal remote sensing data faces many challenges due to limited storage infrastructure. This article presents the results of assessing land use/land cover changes in Dak Lak province from Landsat multi-temporal data on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform for the period 1989 - 2021. This is a suitable and effective solution for processing large remote sensing data, helping to save effort and costs when researching in a large area.
