This study was conducted with the goal of evaluating the current status of domestic solid waste in Chau Phu district, An Giang province. The study used data collection methods, secondary information and direct interviews with 75 respondents in 3 communes in Binh My, Thanh My Tay and Dao Huu Canh. Survey results show that the volume of domestic solid waste generated is 20,528 kg/day compared to the estimated volume of 26,622.72 kg/day, so the volume of residual waste is 6,094.72 kg/day and the average domestic solid waste generated is 0.48 kg/person/day. The components of domestic solid waste are relatively complex, depending on the occupational characteristics, there are different component ratios. Classification before disposal has not received much attention from households, for the savings purposes, some households separately collect and sell scrap such as bottles, paper, plastic bags, aluminum, iron, plastic,… Besides, the means of domestic solid waste transportation are still outdated and the infrastructure is incomplete. The total number of households participating in garbage collection was 17/60. Through the current situation of domestic solid waste generation and management in the above three communes and propose a number of solutions such as propaganda to raise awareness, upgrading and expanding roads and designing domestic waste treatment pits to contribute to improving efficiency in domestic solid waste management in Chau Phu district.
