Research and calculation to determine monthly rainfall in response to climate change scenarios in the Ba River basin
Abstract
Ba River belongs to Phu Yen, located on the Central coast, from source to mouth, the river has an area of 13,900 km2, located in the mountainous regions of West Truong Son and East Truong Son. The Ba River basin has average annual rainfall. The yearly rainfall standard Xo of the stations in the basin varies from 1500 mm to 2200 mm. In addition, the Ba River basin is located in an area with strong storm activity, a tropical convergence zone, and other weather patterns. Floods caused by storms or storms combined with other weather patterns often cause heavy rain from downstream first, and upstream later. In cases where cold air combines with the tropical convergence zone or with storms or other weather patterns, it often causes rain from upstream first or causes heavy rain evenly throughout the basin. Therefore, calculating and determining rainfall according to climate change scenarios in the basin plays a huge role in flood forecasting, flood suppression, and downstream water regulation, ensuring social security.
