The willingness of people to participate in biodiversity conservation at Bidoup of Nui Ba National Park, Lac Duong district, Lam Dong province

Abstract

The research assesses people's participation in biodiversity conservation in Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park, Lac Duong district, Lam Dong province. Research results show that people coordinate with the national park by participating heavily in forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting activities, but only participate in pre-planned. Initial activities have brought benefits to participating members. The community's dependence on outside organizations is still significant. Based on Pretty's participation scale, shows that the level of people's participation in biodiversity conservation activities from national park programs reaches the highest rate at level 2: Participating in providing information with 34.9 %, and the level of people's participation in activities from new project programs stops at the highest level of level 4: Participation for material incentives accounts for 54.6 %. The research analyzed the benefits the community received during the process of participation and community assessments of biodiversity conservation activities at the national park. It proposed some solutions to attract community participation. Participate in the conservation of the national park.
