2. Diversity and structure of mangroves in Tien Hai Wetland Nature Reserve, Hung Yen
Abstract
Several studies have been conducted in the mangrove forest area of the Tien Hai Wetland Nature Reserve; however, updated data on the structural characteristics and stratification of the mangrove biome along the tidal inundation gradient, as well as the current status of species diversity following land-use changes, remain limited. This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution and diversity of mangrove vegetation in relation to topography and tidal inundation within the Tien Hai Wetland Nature Reserve. Specifically, it focuses on: (1) Describing species composition and community types across different habitat conditions; (2) Characterizing the stratified structure of mangrove vegetation under varying tidal flooding regimes; and (3) Examining the relationship between communities and tidal inundation to provide insights for sustainable mangrove planting and restoration in Tien Hai. The research results also identified 103 mangrove species, along with their typical ecological zones and dominant communities, in the Tien Hai mangrove forest area.
