Comparison of the Indo-Pacific strategies of Germany and France
Abstract
The Indo-Pacific region holds a key strategic position in the 21st century, serving both as a
vital global trade route and as a hub of dynamic economic centers and abundant resources. In the context of
increasingly fierce US-China competition, along with intertwined traditional and non-traditional security
challenges, the EU has actively formulated an Indo-Pacific strategy to protect economic interests, while
ensuring maritime security and maintaining a rules-based international order. In particular, France and
Germany have emerged as two pioneering countries, though each country has adopted its own approach.
The article focuses on comparing the similarities and differences in each country's Indo-Pacific strategy,
and assessing the outcomes achieved in their implementation.
