Abstract

Objectives: To describe the current situation and identify some factors related to knowledge about hypertension of stroke patients at Nam Dinh General Hospital in 2021. Methodology: Cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 252 stroke patients due to hypertension from January 2021 to April 2021 at Nam Dinh Provincial General Hospital. Using the toolkit of knowledge on hypertension with Cronbach’s alpha 0.815. Results: 29.4% of patients achieved satisfactory knowledge about hypertension. 63.5% of patients confidently took measures to control blood pressure. Patients receiving complete information had better knowledge about the disease than patients receiving poor information, the difference was statistically significant. The level of confidence had a statistically significant positive correlation with knowledge about hypertension with r = 0.595. The more confident the patient was, the higher the knowledge about hypertention disease. Conclusions: Knowledge of stroke patients about hypertention is low. Receiving full information about the disease and level of confidence of patients are related to knowledge about hypertension, so it is necessary to strengthen health education for stroke patients.
