ABSTRACT

This study aimed to analyze the value chain and evaluating the situation of linking between the production and consumption of persian lime in Hau Giang. Primary data was surveyed from 164 households and 25 stakeholders in the value chain and applying the value chain analysis toolkit according to the value chain linkage approach ValueLinks of GTZ (2007) for analysis. The important contribution of this research is the analysis for perennials and an estimate of both depreciation and investment costs. The research results reveal that in a no-linkage value chain, there are 07 market channels, 05 functions and 09 stakeholders, of which channel 07 (farmers - companies - international consumers) is most effective. The linked persian lime value chain includes 04 market channels with 05 functions and 08 stakeholders, of which channel 04 (farmers - cooperatives - international consumers) is the most effective channel. However, the number of farmers participating in the link value chain is small. Based on the analysis results, the study proposes 05 chain upgrading strategies and 03 effective persian lime value chain development models.
