Impacts of Vung Tau-Go Cong closure dam to water quality in the lower Sai Gon-Dong Nai river area
Abstract
The lower Sai Gon-Dong Nai basin is a key area for socio-economic development of Vietnam southern provinces. This area is prone to urban flooding and water pollution from thousands of industrial and domestic sources. To protect the area from flooding, a closure dam of 28 km long has been proposed to build across the Ganh Rai Bay. The functions of the closure dam to the problem and its environmental impacts are a long-running controversy. This paper presents some research results on the influences of the closure dam on water quality of the area based on a water quality model in EFDC.
