Evaluation ofimpacts of climate change on irrigation demand for agriculture at the Cua Dat reservoir irrigation system

Abstract

     Vietnam is one of five countries in the world most influenced byclimate change. Climate change affects many human activities including agricultural activities and food production. Therefore, irrigation demand projectionfor agriculture sector under climate change condition is very important in the future. This article will provide the evaluation of impacts of climate change on irrigation demand for agriculture at the Cua Dat reservoir irrigation system, Thanh Hoa province for the periods of 2020s, 2050s and 2080s. Results shows that in A2 scenario, water demand for irrigation for the whole study areawill increase by 5,9% until 2099, while that figure for B2 scenario is 7,6%.
