Application of HEC-FDA model in calculating damage of flood in downstream of Ba River Basin
Abstract
In the Central Region, floods cause significant damages to human lives, assets and socioeconomic development annually. It is essential to carry out comprehensive assessment of causing and influencing factors on flood behaviour and flood damages to create scientific basis for proposaing mitigation measures. In this study, a HEC-FDA model was developed for the study area in lower Ba River Basin, Phu Yen Province to quantify economic flood damages in different flood scenarios and mitigation options. The model took into account most of the factors affected by floods and levels of impact in economic values. Results of economic calculations and hydraulic computation served as basis to propose flood mitigation measures for the study area.
