Morphological change of Ninh Co estuary from survey data

Abstract

     Ninh Co river is one of five tributaries of the Red River system flows directly into the Gulf of Tonkin through the Lach Giang river mouth. The river flows through Xuan Truong, Truc Ninh, Hai Hau and Nghia Hung districts, southern of Nam Dinh province. The river is a important floodway, irrigation and drainage channel, it is also the most important waterway connecting the Red River system with the sea. In recent years the Lach Giang river mouth morphology has been strongly fluctuated, that directly affects to the drainage ability and waterway transport. This paper presents analysis results and causes of morphology variation in the river mouth basing on the survey data.
