Research on application and development of scada technology in operation and management of irrigation systems

Abstract

     So far, models of Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) technology which have been applied in Vietnamese irrigation systems do not fully meet the requirements for supervisory control of irrigation systems based on measured data in real-time. They require high investments and can not be applied widely. The issue of communication technology not only play the important role in making reasonable decisions for operation and management of irrigation systems but also relate very much to options of other SCADA equipment, SCADA investment and maintenance costs,... This paper presents the main research results in applying and developing some modern, advanced technologies for supervisory control of irrigation systems. The research objective is to propose, develop a suitably modern model of SCADA technology in the practical conditions in order to improve the operation and management efficiencies of irrigation systems and minimize investment and maintenance costs of SCADA systems. The research contents and results consist of:

- Overview of SCADA technologies applied in Vietnam and the research orientations.

- Modernization of operation and management (O&M), supervisory control and data acquisition

of irrigation systems through Internet.

- Creating the modernization software for operation and management of irrigation systems.

- Creating the tools for supporting the modernization of supervisory control and data acquisition

of irrigation systems step by step.

- Development and application of the communication technologies and options of the reasonable

SCADA equipment.

- Creating automatic tools for the free support in the O&M modernization.
