Abstract

Ba river basin is the largest one in the South Middle Region. Ba river has rich potential for hydropower and it plays important role in socio-economic development of the region. Recently, some large dams have been constructed for hydroelectricity and irrigation purpose such as Ayun Ha, Hinh, Ba Ha, Krong H'Nang, An Khe - Ka Nak,... This reservoir system has been created some negative cumulative impacts and caused conflicts in exploitation and use water resources. This assessment is difficult and complex due to properties, characteristics of the reservoir system and pathways and effects of the cumulative impacts. In this article, the authors tried to study, analyse and assess for determining out main cumulative impacts caused by interrelated large reservoirs in the basin and base on the findings to propose some indices for concrete assessment of these impacts.
