Study on operating the large reservoir system on Vu Gia - Thu Bon river for flood preventing purpose

Abstract

     The upstream reservoirs have significant impacts to flood and inundation in the downstream of Vu Gia - Thu Bon rivers. If there is a reasonable mode of operation, these reservoir will have a positive impact on downstream's flooding situation areas while keeping the goals of generating and reservoir safety; conversely, without it, a lot of negative impacts and great damage to the downstream would be occurred. In this study, the proposal of flood discharge on system Vu Gia - Thu Bon is presented in order to reduce the downstream flooding and take minor impact on electric generation purpose.
