Design flood estimation for Buon Tua Srah reservoir in the context of climate change

Abstract

    Climate change leads the changing of water resources, especially the flood issues such as magnitude of peak flood, frequency... It also causes the risk of damage for the reservoirs which were designed in the past. The paper proposes an approach in order to estimate the design flood in the context of climate change for the Buon Tua Srah reservoir. Using the output of RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios fromthe HadGEM2-AO and HadGEM3-RA models, the results show that the annual flow tends to decrease, the magnitudes of peak flood also decrease about 20% to 30%. The study will provide scientific base to propose flood design standard as an output of National research project BĐKH 61.
