Some assessment of water pollution of Dao river in Nam Dinh city and opinions on its management and control measures

Abstract

      The section of Dao River that flows through Nam Dinh City plays a very important role in the socio - economic development of Nam Dinh province. The water of this section also serves as raw water input for Nam Dinh Water Plant which supplies clean water for domestic and industrial use in Nam Dinh city. Therefore, the management and protection of the water quality is of great significance.

     Through analysis of data collected during survey and examination of polluting sources and estimation of pollutant loads from these sources, this article has identified major sources that pollute the water of Dao river within the city as well as of rivers and canals surrounding Nam Dinh City. By detail research on the pollution of Dao river water, the article assesses the level and reasons of the pollution, and provided some opinions on necessary measures to be taken to reduce the pollution level and gradually address the pollution problem for Dao river in the future, as well as to protect the water source for Nam Dinh Water Plant.
