Influence of dam height and foundation on earth dam subsidence

Abstract

     Water Resources University Local materials have been popularly applied in construction, espeacially in hydraulic construction with their advantage. However, during the construction, earth dam is loaded up continuously to the finish of building. Thus, dam subsidence increases steeply in this time then it reduces to stable. The subsidence is effected by the change of earth properties in both dam and its foundation. The settlement of dam could damage and affect seriously to operation of the work. This paper shows results of the research on dam subsidence influenced by dam height and the depth of weak foundation.
