Abstract

The climate change would lead to elevated sea levels that, combined with major river flooding, would threaten the life and economic development in the Northern coastal region in the future. Therefore it is important to study and estimate flood water levels at river estuaries, taking into account elevated sea level to make recommendations for changes in designed water levels of dyke systems during their improvement and rehabilitation.

This paper presents findings of the study and recommendations for designed water levels at nine main estuaries along the Northern coastal region to respond to the climate change.
