Some matters of designing pond system for prawn farming on coastal sandy regions and protecting environment in Binh Dinh province

Abstract

    In recent years, the trend in expanding land area for aquaculture on coastal sandy regions of central Vietnam is attracting a wide interest. Some projects with small scale have been invested and got some first positive results. Even though, these are still new models implemented in relatively special natural conditions: terrain of pond foundations is usually higher than sea level; pond foundations and ponds' banks are extremely made of sand; resources of freshwater are far from farming areas;... Therefore, experience summary is necessary for proposing models for ponds, diagrams of seawater and freshwater supply system and sewage disposal system. These models should ensure the sustainability of farming environment, suitability for natural and socio-economic conditions of each region and investment's efficiency.
