Water environment issue on estuaries in the north coastal areas of Viet Nam

Abstract

    Estuary area in the North of Viet Nam has potential economic development and brings biodiversity to ecological systems, wetlands. This areas are used for aquaculture, traffic, tourist, developing harbour,etc,. Nowadays, environment in estuary area is facing to polluted issues due to not only industrial activities but also domestic and agriculture activities. Petroleum pollution is considered as the worst, oil concentration has been increasing highly in surface water in river mouth areas, harbours. Oil accumulation is investigated in sediment and root of mangroves. Currently, turbidity pollution influences on ocean environment seriously which damage coral growth, and marine algae. The oxy dissolve level is low in coastal area. Biology oxygent demand, coliform indicator is over exceptional standard. Salt intrusion from ocean to river mouths deeply affecting fresh water and water quality for Agriculture.
