Abstract

With more than 2,000 km of estuary and sea dikes having crest level of about 5.5 (m) above MSL, wave overtopping occurs frequently when typhoon coming to the coasts. In coming year with global climate change and sea level rise the wave overtopping will be accelerated. The paper investigates quantitatively the relationship between overtopping discharge and vertical distance above still water level under the effects of dike slope, dike berm as well as roughness of revetment's materials to protect sea dikes. It helps design consultants select appropriate parameters for construction and protecting permanently estuary and sea dikes.
