Water requirement of agricultural products in the view of virtual water concept

Abstract

    Water recourses is very important with human that is considered as trading goods. In reality, trading water is quite difficult. However when considering virtual water, water can be traded absolutely. Virtual water concepts have reality meaningful when it is traded through trading goods process - Virtual water trade. In order to develop basis of virtual water trade among different region in Vietnam as well as between Vietnam with other countries, this articles present virtual water calculation method and results in project "Study the scientific basis of water use adjustment with virtual water perspective for main crop and animal products" which is applied for calculating virtual water of rice, maize, coffee, sugar cane, aquatic and major animal products in 7 economic regions including: Northern mountain, Red River Delta, North Central, South Central, Central Highland, Southeast area and Mekong Delta.
