Research for recommendation of designed flood calculation methods for transporation in the North – East region of Vietnam

Abstract

     Methods for calculation of designed flood for transportation in Vietnam are based on criterias and standard as results from Soviet Union studies with supporting curves and tables developed from limited data in Vietnam; thus culculated results may have unexpected bias and are based on engineers‘ experiences. This article reviews and summarizes some current limitations of these methods and recommend suitable methods for calculation of designed flood for transportation in the North - East Region of Vietnam.
