Research on planning resonable groyne system for Con Tron coastal area in Hai Hau, Nam Dinh

Abstract

      Due to the complex mechanisms of action and interaction of waves, tides, currents and shore protection works, a reasonable layout of these works on both technical and economic efficiency is essential. This paper studies to propose the groyne system protecting beach and wave reduce at Con Tron coastal area of Hai Hau, Nam Dinh. The hydrodynamic model MIKE 21 is used for simulating coastal flow, velocity and sediment transport to select reasonable plan of groyne system in the study area. Scenarios with and without the groyne system are analysed. Based on both technical and economic conditions, a groyne system with 7 groins and 200 m apart is proposed to protect the study area.
