Introduction on concept of health of river ecosystem and biomonitoring - a case study of selection of bioindicators for river ecosystem in the downstream area of Tra Khuc river

Abstract

   In developed countries, concepts of ecological health in general and health of river ecosystem in specific and environmental biomonitoring by using bioindicator has been used since long time, while in Vietnam these concepts are rather new. This report provides brief  introduction on concept of health of river ecosystem, the needs and advantages of  biomonitoring in river ecosystem management. The report uses a case study of selection of bioindicators for river ecosystem in the downstream area of Tra Khuc river to demonstrate for this application.
