The factors influence on shrinkage and some methods to predict shrinkage of HPC
Abstract
To alleviate the deterioration of concrete structures, high performance concrete (HPC) is extensively used, particularly for hydraulic and hydro-power, bridge and marine works, due to its favorable durability characteristics. However, there is a problem with the high cracking tendency of HPC due to its high early shrinkage, low water-cementitious ratio and brittleness. Thus, the HPC advantages of high compressive strength and low permeability are somewhat offset by shrinkage cause cracking, which reduce the service life of concrete structures. To improve this problem, the first goal of this paper is to research some influences on shrinkage and some models to predict shrinkage of HPC.
