Abstract

Meeting water demand for shrimp ponds during each growth period and development of hatching shrimp is a decisive factor for intensive shrimp hatching production. Via process of water supply and drainage, it is able to monitor and control water quality in ponds in a suitable way. Regime of water supply and drainage for intensive shrimp hatching is reasonable if the hatching gains high production, does not pollute environment and control quality of water environment in ponds (pH, salinity, temperature, alkalinity, etc.,), and water amount supplied and drained as well as supply and drainage times are suitable. In this paper, the author reviews related literatures and recommends a reasonable regime of water supply and drainage for intensive shrimp farming in high tide areas based on the results of experiments carried out at the intensive shrimp culture plant Tan An, Yen Hung district, Quang Ninh province. This regime is able to apply to other areas those have the similar conditions to those of coastal areas in the North Vietnam.
