The present situation of urban drainage and the knowledge of residents: A big challenge for urban wastewater drainage in Vietnam

Abstract

     The goal for orientation of development of urban wastewater drainage in Vietnam until 2020: Stepwise to solve the flooding problem in rainy season in urban areas; Every town/city has the wastewater drainage with suitable treatment technology concerning the environmental protection; To expand the services of drainage system from 50-60% to 80-90%, especially in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, the city/town in the main economic areas and the indutrial zones to 90-100% [1]. In this paper, the results of baseline study on the real status/situation of collection and drainage system of Bac Ninh City as well as the knowledge of inhabitants are presented in order to shown the difficulties which the urban wastewater projects are to face.
