Abstract

The vertical and horizontal motions can be caused by waves and the forward speed of a caisson. Current induced motions are inverse speed induced motions. The speed induced motions are squata uniform sinking due to a drop in the level of the surrounding water as a result of the return flow. The wave induced motion are heavy- a uniform vertical motion; pitch- a rotation about the transverse axis; and roll- a rotation about the longitudinal axis. The horizontal motions are sway-a motion along the transverse axis; and yaw- a rotation about vertical axis. The computation of the motion can be done by using a response function method and by model tests
