Practical experiences in design and execution of dike using dredgers

Abstract

    It is not like a skyscraper or huge bridges, sea dykes is thousands kilometer long, use billions cubic meter of construction materials. By saving a little unit cost of cross section, those can save huge money. In almost cases, local soil does not meet technical requirements to fill dyke body, as well as loading capacity of foundation. In some places, the height of dyke can not bigger 2m. That's why apply advanced technologies in design and execution are very important to make a strong sea dyke in the manner of technique and financial. The paper presents some experiences related to investigation, design and execution of sea dykes using local soil, which are implemented by author's team
