Research the impact of Van Phong weir on flood flow in downstream of Dinh Binh reservoir

Abstract

     The hydraulic project Dinh Binh reservoir on Kone river is the multipurpose project. The construction of Van Phong weir will impact on flow of Kone river in high water period. Therefore, the sort of Van Phong weir, after research and selection, is Piano keyboard sort, which has large advantage in keeping head of water and flood drainage, maximum reduction of flood area. This report presents the calculation of discharge and the flood water level behind and in front of Van Phong weir, to evaluate the influence of this weir on flood drainage capability of Kone river in downstream of Dinh Binh reservoir. This is the basis to overcome shortcomings and improve the efficiency of the project.
