Study results on establishment of indicators for evaluation of the actual situation as well as of the development of water environment and aquatic ecosystem downstream Tra Khuc river

Abstract

    Downstream Tra Khuc river has been subject to the severe impacts on the environment as well as on the aquatic biology sources due to the heavy depletion of the water resources and of the unsustainable water management. This situation has becoming more common in many river basin in Viet Nam today. The investment on the water environment protection as well as on the aquatic ecosystem in the river basin is mostly not included in the decisions of financing the water infrastructure. In order to building the adequate bases for assessing the river environment and for the aquatic ecosystem it is necessary to collect the information of the river environment as well as of the river ecosystem features and interpret them into the easily understandable form in order to providing the scientific proof for the planner, managers, decision makers at the State or local levels' consideration. Therefore, this paper presents some results on setting up a set of indicators for assessing the actual situation and the development of the water environment and aquatic ecosystem downstream Tra Khuc river basin.
