Abstract

     Deep soil mixing column technology has been researched and applied widely in the world and Vietnam in handling soft soil foundation in construction works of traffic, irrigation, airports, ports or underground construction etc. The technology is applied in building waterproof walls for dams, bottom drains, reinforcing soil around the tunnel, road-bed of abutment, stabalizing revetment walls, borrow pit, anti soil slip for batters. The advantages of the technology include deep-handling capabilities (up to 50 meters), suitable for the soft soil, and seawater intrusion environment, construction under in cramped space and waterlogged conditions, especially fast speed construction with simple techniques and lower cost than other solutions. Though Deep soil mixing column technology is chosen in building the dyke against river bank erosion for new urban area An Phu Thinh, Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province. We have found that the technology is suitable for constructing similar works in coastal lagoons located on the environment of seawater intrusion.
