Analysis of coastal hydrodynamics aspects around Phu Quy Island

Abstract

    Phu Quy Island District is an archipelago of 10 islands, and Phu Quy island is the largest one that plays an important role in the coastal economic development of Binh Thuan province as well as the coastal security and defense assurance of the south-central region. In recent years, the coastal erosion along the shoreline of the island occurs more frequently and tends to increase. To come up with sustainable solutions to stablising the shore lines and beaches, it is very important to study the coastal processes of waves, currents around the island. This paper presents the results of simulations of coastal hydrodynamics of the near-shore zone around Phu Quy island by using a 2-D model and makes the initial assessment of the influences of the aboved elements to the current state of coastal erosion around the island.
